I really dislike lists that do this. I end up never posting to them. (*)
I subscribe to lists under different email addresses. I use qmail.

Sure, I can pretend to be my list-subscribed email address when I post,
but then replies to *me* go into my list folder. Life's much simpler
when only the list knows the email address I use for the list.

I can live with the occasional spam. I'm sure it's great fun for the
people at abuse at roughly.wherever.the.mail.comes.from to read a hundred
or so screams, no?
