Yep. For example the Python URL client library, equiv to LWP, is
nowhere near up to scratch -- doesn't even have cookies.

yep, as I meant to say (but accidentally didn't ;), take
a look at http://www.indigostar.com/ ... as far as I know it's
a compile-to-exe commercial app for Perl.
