Ireland is a small country - tourism is one of the largest
industries in the country, of course we're happy for foreigners
to spread their dosh around... what country doesn't? You can't
blame anybody here for wanting your money. I'm quite sure if
i go to Disney in florida they wont refuse my money either.

It sounds like you're blaming irish for your inability to
find a job too... you'll find that here is no different to anywhere
in the current global economy.

Of course it is natural for a country to employ its own natives
before forigners (given equal qualifications and experience etc).

Thats not a race thing etc, its no worse than the policy the French
have towards foreign music. Its a small country, many believe
Irish culture would be diluted by too many foreigners living here.
I'm quite sure it's no different in any other country.
It may/may not be something you or I or many others agree
with... but dont blame us all, thats just not fair.

Ireland has always been suspicious of forigners - in some parts
of the country it may take many subsequent generations of a new arrival's
family before they're considered to 'belong' to that area.

I would suspect though that (and as others have pointed out) - the
problems you have finding a job are more to do with the fact that there
arnt really any jobs for anybody at the moment in this country. Dont
take it personally....

G.

For a bit of news you Irish will enjoy!

I have decided to return to America. We came here in March
seeking a better life; a life where our children could walk to school,
where they could walk down the street to play with their friends, and
where we did not have to go to the hospital every Halloween to have
the sweets X-Rayed for foreign objects such as razor blates, sewing
needles and hypodermics.

I figured that if anything went wrong with the start-up company I
came over to work for, my skill set and experience could find a job
rather quickly. I did not figure anti-American sentiment into the
equation. I guess Ireland would be happy to have me as long as I
was on holiday spreading my dosh around, and not happy to have
me here seeking work. This experience will always be fresh in my
mind whenever a european crosses my desk for an interview.

You have until 20 Dec to bash me, berate me, and what ever else it
is you do in your free time.

l8r!
