[ILUG-Social] Goodbye

Sean,

There are (or at least was) many North Americans on this list. Some of
whom have also fallen foul to this economic downturn. It is also not
limited to Ireland. As others pointed out, the US is in the same boat.
It is unfortunate that you seem to have taken the unavailability of
techie-jobs personally. It is not. I hope that Ireland has only equal
opportunities employers in this day and age. But if you have met one who
is not, there are authorities with whom this can be taken up (see
http://www.oasis.gov.ie).

As for a mass scathing insult of the Irish IT industry, thats a little
uncalled for. Like every country in the world, Ireland is not without
its racism. But only by rising above it, can we hope to iradicate it! We
all need to blow steam from time to time, but aiming directly at the
very people you want(ed) to work with is not such a cleaver move. In a
community situation such as this, we all need each other.

You have had a raw deal, and that is unfortunate. But deal with the
problematic people specifically. Just as we do not throw all americans
into the one pot just because of a few stupid moves / decisions, please
do not do the same to us!

Take some time to think about this. Then make a new plan of attack. Had
you not decided to insult the hundreds of people on this list, they may
have even been willing to help you find a new position.
