[ILUG-Social] Dublin Bus gps system

[ILUG-Social] Dublin Bus gps system

Tue Jun 5 11:45:40 IST 2001

I read that Dublin bus were planning to stick gps systems on their buses
and link them to their busstops for keeping the arrival times updated.
Nearby me theres some displays gone into the shelter, which are
permantly displaying "system in test", and then the times, which are
hauntingly close to the times the buses are arriving.

Anyone know if this system is actually up and running, and more to the
point if anyone was involved in the affair to know what sort of
communication have they rigged up between bus and central depot and
shelters. And can I listen in so that I can do my waiting in my
apartment rather than wait by the helpful digital display for my bus.

I agree with what you say, but I will kill you if you say it again
