[ILUG-Social] RE: my favourite telco

[ILUG-Social] RE: my favourite telco

Niall Walsh me at niallwalsh.com
Thu Oct 4 10:07:50 IST 2001

Yesterday, around the time the site went down, I contacted the owner and
asked why it had come down and if he minded mirroring. I received an
answer this morning. I'm not going to include the entire response
here, just the highlights.

visiting a friend...borrowed his dads credit card...This morning...his dad...call from eircom saying the site was very "offensive" and that
they "will be taken further action". I want to arrange it re launch the site...I don't want my mate to get into
trouble...As for posting mirrors of the site, thanks for the offer, but can I please ask you and your friends to sit still on it for a week or so until I get everything sorted.

So it seems that he simply has an extra person involved in the loop (the
credit card owner who paid for the site) and he wants to try and clean
this out. I am not overly surprised that
errorcom^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Heircom want this gone, but does anyone think
they have a leg to stand on? Is satire illegal now?

Anyway, no comment from me as to whether or not the mirrors should stay
or go, just passing on some useful info (i.e. it was the muppets who
took it down, and it should return!).
