[ILUG-Social] amps...

[ILUG-Social] amps...

Mmm cloney audio.. *drool*

they got some nice stuff...
no lifestyle stuff - B&O stuff
and all that looks nice, but
nowhere near as good a sound
quality as seperates.

We've a few (quite old) B&O things at home.
They're based on phillips components internally
which have been tweaked for better
sound and so on. They're very fragile
though. And ridiculously expensive
to get repaired. They do look very nice
but given the choice i'd rather seperates.

ok i'm waffling - check out Creek - they used
to do some very small amps for relatively
reasonable price. On a slightly different
approach you could check out active speakers
- ie: speakers with in-built amplification.

Try Richer Sounds? What kind of amp, and what for? I've never heard of the
slimp3..

(just googled for it, and it looks kinda small alright)... do you want a
hifi quality amp, or just something reasonable? Does it have to look good?

greenweld might have something (www.greenweld.co.uk) or try Maplins for
all the parts <g>

I know Kevin's loaded with VA Linux shares, but Bang & Olufsen???

DubLinn HiFi... again, for the people to whom putting down 12K on a CD
player makes sense...> For functional, but not necessarily small, Richer
Sounds is pretty > good - back in the less central location on the south

There's also all the smaller places (HiFi corner, Roberts (nasty icky
place), Cloney Audio in Blackrock). Problem will be if you want small,
you're into serious lifestyle stuff, and it's seriously expensive normally.
