I have to say Dyson make very cool equipment.  Got one of their vacuum
cleaners a couple of years ago.  At some stage some nasty liquid got 
sucked up into it and mixed with all the bacteria in the dust - creating a 
very interesting smell indeed.  It was simple to take the entire thing 
apart and clean it.  Any other manufacturer and I would have had to buy a 
new one.

The other thing I'd look out for is the energy efficiency rating on all
appliances.
