Get something simple. All you'll ever do is 40 degree washes, and spins.
I just use the "handwash" settings for woollen kirtles & padded armour.
For hoovers, get a dyson. They are the only ones that aren't made for
little old ladies. Telescopic widget for tall men. Doesn't mind hoovering
up metal shavings & sheep fleece bits with glue on them, which I was well
impressed with.

The fridge is something that can look really cool. I went all-out and got
a big fuck-off zanussi. This one looks like something that beats up little
beer fridges for lunch money.
My julie used to hug it every time we went to power city, when we were
making up our minds what to get. And, it was shiny silver too.
Get a freezer on the top (it's a pain to bend down & take out heavy
stuff), and something with a "quick freeze" or "fast air flow" button.
Dead good when parties are on, and you have to cool three of four trays of
beer quickly.
