[Webdev] passing site to site information

[Webdev] passing site to site information

Any of you guys implemented a system to share data between websites?
We find there's a need to get user login info (username & password
maybe) from our partners so their customers can login to our site.
Unfortunetly many of our partners use .htaccess files or WinNT+IIS and
aren't that clued in on the web stuff (not implying that just by running
WinNT means you don't know anything about the web ;)
We've discussed everything from XML, to passing info in a http request.
Each has it's disadvantages, complicated or insecure. Would love to go
the PGP way but, again, that adds complications..

I think it's actually more complicated than that even, we want to make
it possible for a user to login to another site and then be able to
login to ours transparently.

Unfortunetly I have to leave work early, but I'd be interested in
comments, either on or off list..

Donncha.
