#
#Having been as courteous as I could be, I take great offense to this.

I've already apologised to John about my detached observation
re this {in other words nothing personal was intended) but
I think it's only right that I apologize on the list as well
as that's where the perceived insult was made.
ok?

<snip>
#I have done quite a bit of work with this, and written out a
#lot of notes as
#to what are the current design faults with linux.ie, how they could be
#overcome, what sort of back end there should be to this, even done up a
#simple mockup (http://193.120.148.178/~john/linux.gif), and
#find it quite
#offensive that you think this about users.

oops. I certainly did put my foot in it, didn't I?
Once again, it was a detached observation, nothing personal was
intended.

#The fact is that people want a change. I can't speak for the
#rest of the
#"about 10" that you mentioned, but I can guess the reason
#nothing has been
#done is.. noone knows what the status of it is.. should we go
#ahead with a
#redesign? or do you wish to go ahead with a redesign without
#the input of
#people who volunteered (which seems to be the case).

ok. we're going to, tentatively[0], go ahead with a redesign of linux.ie,
modelled on John's prototype at http://193.120.148.178/~john/linux.gif
[as I mentioned to John privately, I looked at his design and whistled.]

The overall design will essentially be a combination of the suggestions,
proposals and ideas as posted here. Including a webdesign 'state of play'
page and also an 'RFC' style document that can be checked to ensure
no deviations from the new design are made.
webmaster at linux.ie is really the best place for discussion of the
redesign of linux.ie. But it is a non subscribable mailing list, so
I need to check a few things over first before this thread can be moved
off webdev at .

<honestly sincere>dat make ev'rybody happy again?</honestly sincere>

Ken

[0] - Unless people want to put up their own prototypes for the new look
linux.ie site. If they do then we'll wait for a week to let them put up
the prototypes and then decide on which one to adapt to.
