[Webdev] htaccess and <Directory>

Because Directory isn't valid in .htaccess context:

http://apache.mirrors.esat.net/docs/mod/core.html#directory

<Directory> directive
Syntax: <Directory directory> ... </Directory> 
Context: server config, virtual host
Status: Core.

Try removing the Directory block around the directives.
