Howdy everyone.
Just some interesting results I have from running ab on two of my sites.
Site one has feck all dbase lookups. I havew also installed the zend cache
($1899+ for those who want to know) and it looks pretty cool
However site one as I said has not dbase lookups but the file extension is
.php as I may need to add stuff in the future. so running ab I get
Document Path: /
Document Length: 23486 bytes
Concurrency Level: 1
Time taken for tests: 5.939 seconds
Complete requests: 1000
Failed requests: 484
(Connect: 0, Length: 484, Exceptions: 0)

HTML transferred: 23487128 bytes

Transfer rate: 4011.45 kb/s received
Connnection Times (ms)
min avg max
Connect: 0 0 2
Processing: 4 5 112
Total: 4 5 114
Which is worrying me a little. The failed request is quite high.
However on the ssecond web site on the same server when I run the ab test
against a page that pulls and image from a database and other infor I get the
following.
Document Path: /other/who/index.phtml?empid=6
Document Length: 28562 bytes
Concurrency Level: 1
Time taken for tests: 9.289 seconds
Complete requests: 1000
Failed requests: 0

Transfer rate: 3111.09 kb/s received
Connnection Times (ms)
min avg max
Connect: 0 0 8
Processing: 8 8 86
Total: 8 8 94
BIG DIFFERENCE. Seeminly it don't like just plain old php stuff. ab was run
with ab -n 1000 url from another box on the network.
Why are the failed request so high on one site and not on the other. (max
server etc all been setup an optimised for our set up)? It really is
worrying.
On a side note. If you can afford it especially for anyone that runns a busy
phorum setup zend cache rocks. it's really cool and easy to setup.
