That is what sponsorship is for.
Though admittedly trawling PR flunkies over here while a sufficient
number of local PR flunkies exists is a bit much. (The people giving the
papers are necessary though and should be supported.)
So what is the cost of keeping N ISDN lines open for N days and having
internet traffic on each one? What is the cost of actually getting the
ISDN lines up and running? Does the premises in question have ISDN and
if it doesn't can ISDN be installed in time? All the usual questions for
running a internet type conference.
What gets to me is the muppets who whinge about not enough money being
flushed into Dublin's Digital Dive and the Grand Academy of Lagado while
operations that are making *real* contributions are getting fscked over
by thses parasites. And of course the government thinks it is ooh so
cool supporting those morons instead of actually funding Apache Conf or
similarly useful events.
Lack of sleep and too much coffee has made me more cynical than usual.
