We rotate the logfiles on our web servers every day and as a
consequence, Analog prints the following warning:
"doesn't contain last-seven-day statistics; so these may be
underestimated"
The errors.html document helpfully says, "It is impossible for cache
files to record the number of requests in the last 7 days, because the
data would be wrong at the time the cache file was read." but doesn't
explain the consequences of using daily-rotated logfiles over the long
term.
Does anyone know if my log file analysis will be underestimated in the
future? I installed a new version of Webalizer as well to compare and
contrast over the next few weeks so that may help (but I don't trust
Webalizer too much either!)
Donncha.
