Subject: [Webdev] newbie install imagemagick

Hi,
I'm new to linux.
I want to install imagemagick to do on the fly resizing
of jpegs and gifs on a php website (gd has annoyed me in the past).
i tried the imagemagick rpm but there were loads of dependencies that i
don't need,so i built it myself.
the problem is i can't get it to compile with jpeg support (it says 'failed
the tests').
i typed

rpm -qa | grep jpeg

and i get

libjpeg-6b-16

any help would be appreciated - with the gif side of things too.

thanks,

adrian
