[Webdev] [Perl question] Excel to other format using perl

[Webdev] [Perl question] Excel to other format using perl

Hi All,

I am having a weird problem. I am trying to convert an Excel file to SQL. I
was using Excel2Sql and it was working last week, but somehow now its not.
Anyhow the problem is I don't know much about perl, if it were php yes, but
perl no. I have installed all the correct stuff from CPAN though. Anyhow
does anyone have a perl app that even dumps the info from the spread sheet
to a text file or something, then I could write some PHP to manipulate it.
Its a hack I know but my back is against the wall now as I am running out of
time for this to be done asap and I am outa ideas and googles.

The obivious thing for me to do is to export the excel file as a csv, but
that cannot happen as I do not provide it in the first place and the client
will not give it to me in csv as its too much work for them. Does anyone
have any idea. It has to work on a RedHat 7.2 box with either Perl or Php.
Currently they upload their excell file and php takes over, calling
excel2sql. It worked fine last week but now is saying it cannot find the
spreadsheet or else another error.

I have mailed the excel2sql author with all details but got no answer.

Cheers and thanks in advance if anyone cal help.
Aj
