[ILUG-Webdev] MySQL selecting against NULL

Just treat null as a special case

Try

select name from test where name not like '%whatever%' or name is NULL;

Subject: [ILUG-Webdev] MySQL selecting against NULL

I have a table similar as this:

create table test(
 id int auto_increment not null primary key,
 name text
);

Whenever 'name' is NULL, the following always fails
select name from test where name not like '%whatever%';

any idea of a solution to this?

Kae
