Expo Report 2005 Posted By Paul O'Malley - 19:03, 20 April 2005
We had a good time in ICT-EXPO this year. The show itself was not as well attended as previous years. What did we do? Well in a break with tradition we gave away a lot of Ubuntu Install CDs made for us at the show by nivalis.ie. We also gave away a lot of other stuff from IFSO.ie, KDE.ie and some company called mandriva :-). We were situated opposite the RedHat stand, who I personally have to thank for providing a speaker at less than 5 minutes warning, a bit like kickstart for conferences.
The talks were resonably well attended and seemed to generate interest.

We ran two distros on the stand Ubuntu and Kanotix. You can find out more about Ubuntu http://www.ubuntulinux.org, the other disto we ran on the stand was Kanotix http://www.kanotix.org.
Post show on the Thursday we went to the School House (Northumberland Rd) and had dinner with some of the people on from the show, along with Evan Leibovitch of the Linux Professional Institute and Paul Everitt of Zope Corporation some of the guys from Open App and the Irish Python User Group.

Upgrading Windows 98 to XP can have a lot of hidden costs, hardware, software and a little shift in paradigm. Well changing the direction of that shift in paradigm, you can save on the hardware and software.
