PeopleSoft said it will announce plans at a customer conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday to convert its entire line of business applications, which includes more than 170 products, to run on the open-source Linux operating system.

There's a lot to like in SuSE's latest edition, 8.2, and little to complain about. There are security enhancements and graphics tweaks partly due to KDE 3.1, and major administration bonuses in YaST-2. It's clear that SuSE has worked hard to accommodate the corporate desktop market as well as the home user since edition 8.1, which we did not recommend.

IBM has denied SCO Group's allegations that it misappropriated Unix trade secrets, but Big Blue isn't giving hints about what its eventual strategy will be for battling the lawsuit.

NIOSC - northern ireland open source community - have established a website to promote all things open source up North. They recently held the first open/workshop day which was very well attended for the first event of its type and are planning to hold more in the future.
