Richard Stallman and Bruce Perens will keynote in Belfast on March 16th. This whole-day event is tailored towards IT decision makers in medium sized businesses and public administration - but the content will have a wide appeal. Among other topics, Richard Stallman will discuss GPL version 3, and will take questions on the current draft and the drafting process. Bruce Perens will deliver a CEO / CIO targetted opening keynote. Other speakers will discuss the practical issues of transitioning to Free Software and there will be opportunities for networking.

The debian project has announce that they will release in December 2006.
Their time line is as follows:
N-117 = Mon 30 Jul 06: freeze essential toolchain, kernels
N-110 = Mon 7 Aug 06: freeze base, non-essential toolchain (including e.g. cdbs)
N-105 = Mon 14 Aug 06: d-i RC [directly after base freeze]
N-45 = Wed 18 Oct 06: general freeze [about 2 months after base freeze, d-i RC]
N = Mon 4 Dec 06: release [1.5 months for the general freeze]
The good news is that they are on track to reach this goal.

FON is a Spanish wi-fi sharing company, based on open-source code and principles.
FON already has its first FON AP in operation, on Ormonde Quay, within range of the Morrison Hotel. Antoin and a few others are meeting up there tomorrow - send antoin@eire.com an email if you want to find out more all welcome.
