Never used red hat but cant you run the setup utility? DId you install the existing
system from CD? And are you just upgrading the kernel. Last time I upgraded
mine I download just the kernel in tgz format unpacked it followed the basic
configure make zimage and stuff in the README and it was fairly simple.
