In a Linux setup, the BIOS is only used for loading the kernel, then
the kernel talks directly to the disks. So as long as your kernel
is in the lower 8.4GB, you'll be OK. When you're installing, either
create a small root partition and a large /usr, or maybe a very small
/boot instead. Don't make / too small, otherwise you might find it
filling up due to stuff in /var.
