[ILUG] Unix System Architecture

Mornin' all,
I'm in desperate need of help: I've got a project to hand in tomorrow
(make that today) - a technical overview of the unix operating system
to be exact. I need to find info on the subsystems of user space (posix
etc.). I've found stuff for the kernel side, but user level seems to be
harder to find. Any good references?
The project was supposed to be on NT, but being a loyal linux fan, I
got permission to do it on unix instead. Of course, as usual I leave
everything to the last moment :-( I also need to get some details on the
unix equivelant of the win32 subsystem. I really don't know what I'm
talking about here, so any help would be gratefully apreciated. I'm
aware of the time, and I don't expect many of you fellow geeks to be up,
but if you are, HELP!!!
Thanks,
Steve

=============================================
It was quiet... too quiet.
Then it was loud... too loud.
Quiet again... too quiet.
And once more, loud... way too loud.
"Damn snooze button," I mumbled to
myself as I got out of bed and
checked the time: late... too late.
