Well. this machine has NT on it (not that it boots it more than once a month :))

I now always do the following:
(doesn't matter which OS you install)
install lilo in the BR of the partition it's running in (i.e. /dev/hda3)
add nt to it (other=/dev/hda1 label=nt table=/dev/hda)
add linux (image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.5ac7 or whatever)

whenever an MS product decides to add itself to the machine, just set the
lilo partition to be the active one, and bob's deine unkle :)

the other thing to try to find is os-bs (the last beta of version 2 was free)
and have that in the MBR, but then the random MS product will clobber it.
