Hi.
I've just received a new Dell Optiplex GX1 (P3).
All's well but for sound support - in fact just playing audio CD's (OK I
know it's not a big deal but...)
The sound hardware is a Crystal Semi CS4236 integrated audio chip. There
is kernel support for CS4232-based chips so I went for that when
compiling the kernel. All's well wrt playing au files or (for example)
RealAudio but I cannot play audio CD's.
Using workman or kscd (I use SuSe 6.0 distribution with kernel 2.0.36)
the structure (tracks etc) show up & the prog seems to play the tracks
but no sound.... any tips?
I append the relevant extract from the boot log:
Sound initialization started
<CS4232 (CS4231)> at 0x220 irq 5 dma 1,3
<MPU-401 1.5U Midi interface #1> at 0x330 irq 11
<Yamaha OPL3 FM> at 0x388
Sound initialization complete
Could the problem be with the base addresses? I think the IRQ's are OK,
had to change the MPU from IRQ9 to IRQ11 due to clash with net card..
Thanks in advance ..........
John
