actually it was, "isn't buffy censored." i was actually focusing more
on the "irish" part of ilug there. not completely offtopic since i
thought censorship was dead in ireland, and now i'm wondering if just
films are censored. are video games covered, and if so how will the
authorities deal with free software based games?

ok, here are a few....
licenses (oh no): caldera 2.2 has a nifty new install process. redhat's
install program is gpl'ed, what of caldera's? also they have a tetris
game playing after they start the install. i thought the tetris people
were getting anal about people copying their game - anyone know more
about this?
programming question: i'm looking for a blocking read/recv call that
times out. it would be best if it didn't involve signals. ideas?
also, i'm looking for this for efficiency reasons. if i did it
with a select and then a read it will involve more data copying
under linux, yes? what about other unicies? it would be nice if the
solution was portable (possibly expressed using ACE).
