Hot off the presses...
Here are the 5 companies that will now be competing with NSI for the
registration of (.com, .net and .org) domain names.
Hopefully a bit of competition will drive the price down. (Even though
the five firms will have to pay NSI the equivalent of an interconnect
charge.)
The five new bodies are
America Online
CORE (Internet Council of Registrars)
France Telecom/Oleane
Melbourne IT
register.com
Anyone know if you can renew a domain that is about to expire with one
of the _new_ bodies? (Hopefully for less than $35 a year.)
