I've got a Viglen laptop that uses this chipset for an 800x600 TFT
display (the laptop also support TV out and external VGA but I've not
tried to use either feature). XFree86 works very well on it.

Nearly all cards work. I've yet to come across one that doesn't. I've
used it with SCSI (Adaptec 1460), modem (NOT WINMODEM!!), and ethernet
cards (3COM and Xircom). All hot-swap. All work flawlessly.

There's a lot of new stuff in the 2.2 kernel for both of these. Linux
now supports almost all of the parallel port IDE type CD-ROM drives -
the most common kind, but supports very few parallel port SCSI devices
(ZIP being a notable exception). The 2.2 kernel supports lots of uses
for IrDA including it's use as a LAN.

Paul.
