Exmh and procmail. Accept no substitutes.
exmh is fine, but I'm still trying to shovel my hundreds of imported
mail folders which have come off my crashed (dead) Win* laptop. It
was easy to munge them into separate messages numbered 1 up in the
separate directories, but I can't see any way in exmh to move a whole
directory into being a subdirectory of another directory...right now
the directories all form one flat space. exmh will let you mark all
messages and copy them to another directory, but I want to move
whole directories into subdirectories. In effect what I want to do
is the equivalent of mv foo bar where foo and bar are both
VI. The first UNIX editor I ever used.
Same here and I bless the day someone showed me Emacs. Twin-mode
editors are an artefact of the 50s and 60s...the concept that you have
to press i before you can start typing is so crapulous that I'm
astonished anyone would actually use it, let alone having to hit Esc
before you can start editing what you typed. But I guess it's what
you're used to...for the work I do, I _need_ latex-mode, sgml-mode
with psgml and real parsing, omnimark-mode etc, and I can't imagine
using anything else. Most everything you need is in the menus, so
there's no need to tie your fingers in knots these days...
