[ILUG] Which distribution (again) ?

Sorry to come back to a question which has been discussed here before, but
hopefully
someone can shed a bit of new light for me -

I have a new PII-400 machine with one of these all-in motherboards - it has
onboard AGP and
sound, and as far as I can tell these sub-systems are based on SiS chipsets. So
too are the
AGP, PCI and ISA bridge-thingies as far as I can tell.

I tried installing RedHat 4.2, but it froze the install quite early on. I got
5.2 to work last night, but I
also have SuSE 5.2 - well someone else borrowed it, but I'm getting it back.

Anyway, two main questions - has anyone successfully installed any distribution
on a
motherboard with onboard SiS chipsets for everything ? If so, which
distribution ?

Second question - how near are the main distributions to releasing version 6 (or
whatever their
next major release is) ? I see from most of their sites that they are *about* to
release 6.0. The
real question is - should I wait or just fire ahead ?

Third question - are the Walnut Creek CDs any good ? I'm talking about the ones
with all the
major distributions. Or am I better with one fully fledged distribution ?

Sorry about all the questions,

Cheers,

David
