Ngh. Of course the thing, you see, about your actual xmodmap, is that it
_modifies_ the default system map, rather than setting it properly from the
word go. Afterwards, I did a little poking around and came up with the
following, in XF86Config change the XkbSymbols to read:
XkbSymbols "en_US(pc105)+gb"
