[ILUG] parport on RH6.1

Can anybody help me to get my printer going. I am stuck at the very
beginning.

Kernel 2.2.12-20
I cannot get the lp0 configured. I will have no problem configuring Printcap
or filters. Setting up the port is the problem. I tried parport=0x378,7 in
/etc/lilo.conf but I still cant get it to work.

Any ideas where I should look.
