[ILUG] More Rage 128 Cards

Hello,
I'm trying to get a Rage 128 (AGP-based) card working properly under X for
my friend. XFree 3.3.6 supports this; he has XFree 3.3.5 (that comes with
Redhat 6.1). I just downloaded the new SVGA server in the hope that this
would be sufficient.

I got 1024x768 to work, but it won't work in a higher colour depth than
256 colours but what is really strange is that fonts are not being drawn
correctly (most text comes out as random vertical lines), rendering xterms
and Netscape almost unusable.

It's a newish Gateway machine, so I can only assume that someone else here
has had the same problem. My knowledge of X is almost exhausted and since
I might have one of these cards in a new computer of my own pretty soon, I
thought I should seek help once and for all.

Perhaps I have to download the whole XFree 3.3.6 release; I would have
thought I'd have gotten away with just the SVGA server executable and some
messing around with XF86Config.

Thanks,
Trevor Johnston
