Unfortunately we don't have much flexibility here since the system will actually
be
a SCAN(SuperComputer :-) at Night) i.e. it's actually a small network of PC's in
use in our Music Dept. Perhaps if we eventually get some money thrown our way
we will be able to move on to a more dedicated setup.

Also, what kind of topology would you suggest with the setup you have mentioned?
If you are linking them through hubs don't you still have collision problems?
