I used to be able to do get chap working with tinet, but it just doesn't seem to
work anymore.
Using plaintext (either with chat or an interactive program like minicom) is the
easiest way to get on. Just type your username after you see "Welcome to Telecom
Internet!", hit enter, and then type your password. I have also been told that
plaintext login leads to slightly better performance than chap because the chap
server sends authentication "challenges" continually (or something, I won't pretend
to understand that part)
