If the blaster is an ide drive what you need to do is compile the kernel with
scsi emulation. Under the block devices area disable ide cdrom support, and
enable scsi emulation. dont compile it as a module. there was some problems
with this in the past as a module anyway.

mkisofs creates a cd image with optional rockridge extensions (use -R option)
after that use cdrecord to put the image on the cd.
