Hello,
I received a Fujitsu E351 laptop with a Trident Cyber9388 2 MB RAM video card
and a 13" TFT.
I set up the Xfree86 configuration using Xconfigurator (I'm installing Red Hat
5.2). I used the SVGA
driver and set the refresh rate on the monitor to 50-70 hertz.
Upon trying to start X, the video display fried itself (Either the display or
the card, one of the two).
I got some weird psychedelic stuff on the monitor and the machine has died. It
no longer boots,
just bleeds colors around the monitor edges. I have a hard time believing that
even mis-setting
some parameter in the X Configurator can cause such a catastrophic hardware
failure.
Has anybody else seen anything like this? Obviously the machine will have to be
replaced, but
in case I made a mistake, can someone tell me what to avoid?
Thanks,
Braun
