Not True! You can run a window manager on the linux box and as long
as you set the DISPLAY variable to the address of the Win32 machine
it will run on it. I done this here in work and all I had to do
was tick a box in the X Server that said "Don't use internal wm"
I have a linux box and and NT box sitting here. I opened two terminals
typed "export DISPLAY=WinNtBoxIp:0" in both
then enlightenment in one and xbill in the other - so I could
see the error messages
It complained a bit (MIT-SHM extensions and didn't like the color depths)
but I was happy enough :-)
I wasn't going to get it going perfect but the small left-aligned
titlebars of BeOS worked. Actually the rest of the bar was grayed out
but the X Server done it's best in an NT environment.
I rebooted into Linux while composing this just to make sure
my theory was right ;)
A mate in work here managed to get most of KDE showing on his
NT box! Including the wm and taskbar etc.
So you don't need to wait until your favorite wm is ported.
Feel free to email me on or off list if you don't understand
the messing with the DISPLAY environment variable.
