i tried to send this to the list before but it didnt seem to go,mabye its
my linuxmail.org reply-to.
when i booted into rh6.0 i got lots of 'Warning: /boot/System.map has an
incorrect kernel version' errors because i had 2.2.7-ac2 on it and 6.0
comes with 2.2.5-ac13 so i uninstalled the kernel rpm's and might of broke
dependencies because i then couldnt build a new kernel 'make menuconfig'
gave out about ncurses so i had to install the kernel off the cd again,i
couldnt build the kernel it was saying something about
/usr/include/bits/errno.h:25 no such file or directory
that file is in glibc-devel isnt it?
i am able to build the kernel now and im on 2.2.7-ac2 but i still get
those annoying messages at bootup,i just noticed now i even get the same
message when i do a simple 'ps' i havent uninstalled the kernel that comes
with it cos i dont want to have to go through this again, does anyone know
what and what order i should delete?
also strangely enough even though /vmlinuz is only 495904 bytes i was able
to do a 'make zImage' but it gave out when i did 'make zlilo' and i had to
do a bzlilo, what is the biggest a zlilo can be?
thanks all.
