Another factor is that you only get significant benefit from multiple
processors when you are running multiple cpu bound processes simultaneously
ie if it is a single cpu bound process it will run on just one of your
celery chips and the Athlon wins hands down.... Unless I'm totally
wrong about how linux works with SMP.

Indeed, it seems hard to find anything other than the clock speed
about most of these processors.
Is there a site anywhere that gives benchmark figures for different
configurations? It would be good to see performance figures for a
suite of benchmark programs + maybe a few standard tests such as
linux-kernel compile.
