Not necessarily... but in general it supports more cards,
mainly because you can always get the pay version, where they
will sign NDA's...
ALSA will be the kernel standard, not 2.4, but it's slated to get
in for 2.6+...
alsa has a better architecture, and they refuse to deal with
people who won't give them the required details (yamaha being
one bad company, Aureal another)..
