The particular story in question is by Karlin Lillinton, her original at
http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/finance/2000/0303/seven9.htm
and the story prompted by amazons emailed response to her
http://www.ireland.com/newspaper/finance/2000/0317/tech3.htm
I have great time for Karlin, shes about the only mainstream journalist
writing in the tech area that has any clue about what going on. The rest
fall off the wagon into incoherent anti-tech ranting or foolish drooling
at press reports taken for face value. Journalistic sense tends to
dissappear when journalists write outside their domains but Karlin is
nearly always spot on.
