[ILUG] e-XPO update

Just dropping a note to mention - it's going really well. Donncha
and the lads did trojan work in getting sponsorship and goodies
organised.

We're well hidden under the IIA section (stand IP15) but we're
getting a **lot** of traffic. Peter reckons that about 9 out of
10 people who approach us have used or are about to install Linux.
I think we're easily getting more, and more interested, traffic
than most of the other stands our size (and a few of the big
ones).

Corel have a huge presence - AFAIK they're launching they're new
Office suite at the show. They gave us a pile of free CDs to give
away, then when they ran out, they gave us another pile. People
are blown away when they ask "how long does this CD last for then"
and they learn they can use it, copy it, install it forever on
all the machines they want.

I've got a badge that says "Linux.ie" and "Windows world". I have
got to scan this in :-)

Peter made a brochure-and-origami-pot. It's wonderful.

While pondering answers to ease-of-install questions, it occurred
to me last night that probably noone else there had the balls to
format the hard disks of their demo machines at 8pm on the night
before the show.

If you can get in at all (I dunno if you need tickets or $$$) drop
over. If anyone has a pile of free Red Hat CD's, other freebies,
or a lend of some !SEATS! it'd be most appreciated ;-)

Have fun,
Dave

be listening, but who will search you out on the road and beat you across the
head with sticks if you say something that offends them. -- Neil Gaiman
