8bpp.. yuk. Else try XF4 if it supports your hardware. It can do
'overlays', (iirc means something like 'provide different depth visuals to
apps from one server depth, eg one app can use a depth 8 visual and
another depth 24 or something), or the problem might have been solved in a
different way in XF4.. i don't know.
what kind of video card do you have btw?

mozilla is looking really really good now. And it's native gtk+.. ( i
assume opera is using some kind of cross-platform lib/widget set - ala
staroffice)
