Perhaps you've got name server problems. Can you ping an external IP address
by number, rather than by name ? If that is the case, then you should check
/etc/resolv.conf - suseconfig has a nasty habit of overwriting that, based
on the values of the following lines in /etc/rc.config:
CREATE_RESOLVCONF=
NAMESERVER=
