I guess when you look at it the whole "Open Source" movement has only really
gotten serious commercial momentum in the last year, and from their FAQ you
can see that they decided last December to open up.

This will be interesting to see what features they will add to make Motif more
comparable to KDE/Qt and GNOME. I think one of the participating companies
are going to contribute "theming" code soon.

I wonder also will this affect the uptake of KDE or GNOME in some of the more
traditional UNIX suppliers ?
