Are you sure that's the right slot? Some mobo makers like you to
start inserting dimms in the highest slot. (eg. a soyo mobo manual
I have here wants me to start with slot "3")

Would be very surprised if the call had been removed. It's deffo
there in 2.2.14. I was doing some testing with different memory
sizes on a 2.2.14 box using the mem= option. Maybe it's gone from
2.2.15? Scary thought.
