it will show buttons on it's panel for open windows, but it won't actually
manage those windows.. which means:

exec soffice.bin

in your .xsession isn't really practical if you want to run other apps.
Which is a shame, cause I'd love to be able to setup my mothers X session
this way - but she needs netscape. (come on Stardiv... make it a gnome and
kde compliant WM PLEASE!! at least then i can recover some of the bloat by
not running a seperate WM).

But if all you ever plan to use is soffice then it will work. Set it to
integrated desktop for the full effect. For the curious try:

xinit <...>/soffice -- :1 vt8

and select view->integrated desktop to see what i mean. (you don't have to
shut down your existing X session to do this).

Then try "start->run" and type xterm. The xterm that pops up is unmanaged
and you can't type into it. :(

(hold ctrl+left mouse, and select "quit" to
get rid of the xterm.)

real shame, cause Star Office as WM would be an excellent setup for
"Office terminals" for secretary/clerical staff.

Caolan, any chance of this functionality in SO5.3+?

delve deeply into the options and you'll find StarOffice even has
"themes". You can change the look and feel between "Unix", "OS/2" and
"Standard" iirc.
