The only time I've gotten this is with OpenBSD. I never bothered fixing
the problem, because I switched to mutt shortly after. I did read
something about it in the pine FAQ though...

Reading this, I guess the second part of your question *is* related to
the first, but I've only begun to start looking at procmail, so I dunno.
